Selecting Apt Plant Seeds

Plants add to the beauty of the environment. Besides, they are extremely useful as they provide various herbs, trees, ferns, mosses, grasses, flowers and bushes. They are an important part of the agricultural sector and are a great source of income for the people growing plants for their livelihood. There are over 350000 plant species, such as fern allies, seed plants and bryophytes. Green plants are also known as metaphytes. The first step in the growth of a plant is placing seeds in a seed tray. The tray should be flat. Also, the seeds can grow correctly in a flat tray. There are other things that must be kept in mind before placing plant seeds in a seed tray. The steps are

1. Planting of seeds depends on the variety of the plant and the climate. It is advisable that you read the instructions written on the seed packet. Only after you read the instructions, place the seeds in the tray.

2. Add soil to your seed tray with the help of a sieve.

3. The leveling of the soil can be done by using a striking board or your hand. Take care that the soil is evenly spread and is well moisturized.

4. The topmost soil layer should be removed with the help of a striking board or your hand.

5. The soil is solidified with the help of a firming board. A firming board is a slim board which can conveniently fit within the seed tray. The soil should be pressed or solidified till the soil is not at level with the tray top.

6. Always keep the seed tray moisturized. Watering can be done with the aid of a rose device.

7. Sowing of seeds can be done by dispersing plant seeds on the soil. However, take care to leave adequate space between the plant seeds so that all the seeds get sufficient amount of water, sunlight and air.

8. The plant seeds should be covered with soil. Generally seeds are placed inside the soil to a depth which is twice the length of seeds. However, read the instructions on the packet of seed plant regarding the apt depth of plant seed.

9. Quality of the soil that is used for sowing plant seed should be good. A good quality soil is necessary for the plant to grow rapidly and bear good quality fruits.

10. Always label the seed tray with a permanent marker. This enables you to distinguish between various plant seeds kind so that respective care is given to plants.

Most importantly always read and follow the instructions on the packet of the plant seed as every plant requires different amount of sunlight, air and water. Also, seeds should be of good quality for best results.
